Here are answers to the most common questions we receive.

What kind of colour the AIC is concerned about?

Colour is a fundamental word and has a lot of connotations. The AIC embraces colour more often from its perception of light or objects which are selectively reflect light.  

What is the purpose of the AIC? 

The objectives of the AIC are: to promote research and education in all aspects of colour, to disseminate colour knowledge, and to encourage co-operation with industries. 

What kind of profession does AIC mainly serve?

Since colour is associated with, multiple disciplines, members are employed in many different professions, from education to industry.

Does AIC offers membership?

Yes, the AIC has 3 types of memberships: Regular Member, Associate Member and Individual Member. The membership shall be decided by vote of the Executive Committee on receipt of a written application addressed to the President, and effective upon payment of an annual subscription fee.

What are the requirements for regular membership?

The Regular Members of the AIC are national colour associations of different countries or regions. As of 2019, the AIC has 28 Regular Members. 

What are the requirements for associate membership?

The Association Members of the AIC are international associations heavily related to colour.

What are the requirements for individual membership?

The AIC offers Individual Membership for professionals who are heavily involved in the field of colour, but reside in a country or region that does not currently have a national colour association that is an active AIC Regular Member. 

What kinds of services does the organisation provide its members?

The AIC is responsible for arranging international colour congresses which take place at convenient and appropriate intervals, nominally biennially. It is also responsible for arranging mid-term meetings which take place one year after each congress. The AIC may also organise or promote special international or regional congresses or symposia. These activities provide a platform for our members to benefit from interaction with the international colour community. The AIC has its own publications, the Journal of the AIC (JAIC) and the annual proceedings of the AIC conferences, which are online and open-access resources available on the AIC website.

What are the benefits of membership of the AIC? 

Opportunities to exchanging and debating ideas in its international platform.
