AIC2024 is near! Registration is now open! 

16 — 19 September 2024. São Paulo, Brazil

So now the registration is open! All engines are in full force, and everything works to receive everybody at a wonderful conference! We had 128 high-quality submissions from people all over the world!

We have wonderful news: we have the support of Brazilian government scientific agencies, which largely elevated the conference's scientific level. With our theme: Color Design, Communication, and Marketing, we are happy to announce important participation from the industry as well, including the participation of Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director from Pantone Color Institute, Urangoo Samba, Head of Colour from WGSN London, Patricia Fecci, Marketing Manager at Sherwin Williams, among others. 

The tour attraction is being prepared, offering a wonderful package trip from September 20th to September 22nd to an amazing place in the South of Brazil to visit one of the wonders of nature, Cataratas do Iguaçu, and a visit to a wonder for lovers of nature and birds, the Parque das Aves, where you can see an amazing number of different species of birds right beside you!

We would love to see you in São Paulo! You will have a profound scientific and industrial reflection on the theme and experience the wonders of Brazilian culture with our samba music, art, food, and nature!

AIC2025, 16th Congress of the AIC, “Color for Future”

The AIC2025, 16th Congress of the International Colour Association (AIC) will be held in Taipei, Taiwan from October 19 to 24, 2025. The theme is “Color for Future”, and all topics related to colour are welcome!

Venue: Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Taipei

Organisers: Color Association of Taiwan (CAT)

Conference Chair: Prof. Tien-Rein Lee

Short abstract submission: from January 1st to March 31st, 2025

Notification of acceptance: June 1st, 2025

Full paper submission deadline: September 1st, 2025

International Colour Day (ICD) book launch during AIC2024

During the Closing Ceremony of the AIC 2024 Meeting in São Paulo, Brazil, a new book titled International Colour Day: A Decade and Beyond will be launched. The book celebrates 15 years of the International Colour Day.

The book is part of a Special Issue of the Journal of the International Colour Association and was edited by Maria João Durão, José Luis Caivano, Vien Cheung, and Berit Bergstrom. 

The design coordination was handled by Luísa Martinez and Joana Perry, with graphic design contributions from Rita Costa and Larisa Mudava.

AIC STUDY GROUPS' NEWS

Study group on Color in Games and Toys

We announce the creation of the study group on Color in Games and Toys. Focus of the group is the use of color in gaming contexts, particularly in games, boardgaames, video games, and toys. The group aims to bring together researchers, experts, and enthusiasts in the field and intends to explore in-depth the importance and impact of color in these contexts. Special attention will be given to the use of games and toys by color-blind users. A special session on these topics will be held at AIC2024 in Brazil.

Our next two free webinars will be "The Art and Science of Crafting Successful Hair Colour" with Julie Kleine (Colors With Chemistry, Georgia, USA). at 11 am AEST on Sept 21 (Sept 20 in the USA), and "The Book of Colours (Das Farbenbuch); The Leitmotiv, the Content, and the 18-Colours Printing Process" with Dr Dr. Juraj Lipscher (https://colourlex.com/) at 6 pm AEST on Oct 10.

ICA-Belgium Workshop Colour Forecast Research 2026+ 

Are you interested in knowing how a colour forecast is developed? Join us for an exclusive workshop on 12 October 2024 in Borne, the Netherlands. You will get a different perspective on the world around you and will be able to translate this insight into colour collections. This one-day workshop will take place at the colour design studio of Anna Maria Nyk and will include an optional Studio Tour on Friday, the 11th of October. The workshop will be led by Anna Maria Nyk and Jeannette Hanenburg.

Signage - visual design in application

Signage refers to the design of visual elements such as signs, symbols and colours to convey information clearly and effectively. It plays an important role in the orientation of people in buildings, public spaces and transport systems. Well-designed signage enables visitors to find their way quickly and easily and feel safe. Nathalie Bringolf from the visual design agency Bivgrafik GmbH will explain what this means in practice at the Toni Areal in Zurich as part of a guided tour.

CIE - International Commission on Illumination

First Conference Announcement - CIE Midterm Meeting Vienna 2025 

Join the CIE Scientific Conference in Vienna from July 7th to 9th, 2025. Submissions for short papers open on September 13th, 2024, and close on December 10th, 2024. 

The conference will feature sessions on new research and developments in light and lighting (across all six CIE divisions), networking opportunities, awards for Best Paper, Best Poster, and Best Student Paper and published conference proceedings. Keynote speaker Professor Stephen Westland will discuss advancements in Colour and AI.
